Top Tips for Using Your Teddy Maximus Pet Bag/Pet Carrier

Welcome to Teddy Maximus! It's Holly here - the founder. I created the original Teddy Maximus dog carrier to enjoy travels about town with my Dachshund Teddy - a dog who never wants to leave my side!

A pet bag opens up a whole new world for you and your puppy - so you can focus on having more fun together and never have to be apart!

Our 2-in-1 pet bags double as handy travel beds and fast become a happy place for your dog to chill when you are out and about - from restaurants, to cafes, shops, hopping on the bus, train or taxi and even a trip to the vets.

But to get the most out of your pet carrier it's important to settle your dog in to their new surroundings in a positive and relaxed way.

Since I founded the brand in 2015, I've compiled a number of tips for getting your puppy or pooch used to their new carry bag. I hope you find them useful!

1. CHOOSE YOUR MOMENT

Introduce your dog carrier when your puppy or pooch has has plenty of exercise and burnt off any excess energy. A dog carrier is a great place to rest tired paws. If all they want to do is run around, they won't want to sit still!

2. PLACE THE CARRIER ON THE FLOOR FIRST

Before heading out with your dog carrier, place it on the floor inside your home first. Supervise your pup so they can enjoy relaxing inside...soon they won't want to leave their happy place!

One watch out - puppies sometimes try and chew the straps, so we advise using Grannicks Bitter Apple Spray or similar.

3. POP IN A FAMILIAR BLANKET

We all know what it feels like to hop into bed, there's nothing quite like your own! Pop in a cosy blanket so they feel safe and secure. A dog blanket can also pad out any excess room if needed so it feels more snug.

4. OFFER PLENTY OF PRAISE AND SOME TREATS

The first few times your dog hops into the carry bag make sure you give plenty of encouragement and even a few of their favourite treats. Hopping in to the dog carriershould be a fun time, where they associate it with the start of an adventure, with you by their side.

5. USE AS A COSY PLACE TO REST

Consider popping your new dog bag on the floor in a communal area at home where you both like to chill and relax. Supervise them whilst they hop in and catch some zeds. Associating their pet carrier with a safe place to get some downtime is really handy when out and about in a noisy cafe or where they might feel overwhelmed such as the train or tube.

6. PRACTISE MAKES PAWFECT

Many dogs take to their new pet carrier right away, whilst others take a little more time to settle - it's perfectly normal. Give plenty of praise and encouragement and soon they'll be hopping in, expectant for their next opportunity to socialise and have fun with you!

Warmest woofs,

Holly & Teddy xxx
