Der "Schwanz" eines verpassten Busses & ein glücklicher Tag danach.....

Wir lieben die Hochzeitssaison, als wir also von Lauras besonderem Tag mit Ehemann Calum und Köter Max hörten, mussten wir nur teilen.....

Laura and Calum went to school together and lived a few roads apart growing up. After leaving school Calum headed off to college in Loughborough and Laura to University in Leicester.

It was on a chance meeting that Calum and Laura got to know each other again - Calum had missed his bus back to college and Laura was heading on the same one to University, so they got chatting and the rest is history! When it came to the proposal, Calum asked Laura to be his wife at the very same bus stop.

Max in his Teddy Maximus Bow Tie

Max is a big part of their lives and looked so dapper in his Teddy Maximus Bow Tie as part of their big day - we caught up with Laura to find out more...

Laura - tell us a bit more about your special day...

Our wedding ceremony was at St Mary's Church in East Leake, it's the church where we live and where my parents got married. Our reception was at the Country Cottage Hotel in Ruddington. We tried to go for a fairly simple day, we wanted it to be relaxed and about us not about everything we'd arranged! We had a 1960's London Routemaster bus to get us all from the Church to the hotel because of how Calum and I started seeing each other. We had a hog roast for dinner instead of a formal sit down meal because that just isn't us! Our first dance was Jack Johnson "Better Together" and my Mum made our wedding cake. It was 4 layers of ginger cake, carrot cake, lemon and chocolate. She even crafted a little Max to go on the top!

Aww, so sweet! How did Max come into your lives?

Calum had always had a dog growing up called Benji. I'd never really been a dog person having grown up with cats but Calum was adamant that we were going to get a dog. We set out researching breeds and which would suit our lives best as we both work. I was keen to have an energetic dog that we could take walking and I could run with! He was the last dog of his litter and we fell in love straight away.

Why was it important for Max to be with you for the wedding?

Max is a huge part of our lives! Initially, we weren't going to have him at the wedding but when we thought about it, you invite distant relatives that you rarely see but your dog that you love and live with isn't allowed to come! It seemed to make no sense to us, so that made our decision. We weren't sure how well behaved he'd be, but we thought that would just add to it!

Was he there for the whole time? How did you arrange things so Max could be there?

Max came for the ceremony. The vicar was really encouraging of Max being there, he adores Max! We spoke to our amazing dog walker, Jen of L&M Dog Walking, and she agreed to bring Max to the wedding. He stayed with her the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. We set Jen up with a lot of cocktail sausages and dog chocolate to keep Max quiet!

What was the highlight of the day?

The highlight  was going on our London Routemaster bus with all our guests after the ceremony. Getting to sit with Calum as his wife on a vintage bus was amazing. Everything was just so incredible that it's difficult to pick just one thing! Getting to see Max in his bow tie and have a family photo with him was also amazing, although he did keep trying to jump on my dress!

Do you any tips for people having their dog at their wedding?

If anyone wants their dog at the wedding, the person handling them definitely needs to be armed with their dog's favourite treat! I'd recommend having your dog at the rehearsal too. One of our issues was that Max would cry to get to myself and Calum at the front of church and then when we went into the vestry with our parents we were concerned he'd bark to get to us all back but because Jen was there and  distracting him with his favourite things he was fine! Your doggy guests definitely need to be dressed appropriately as well!

Yes, we agree! max looked fab in his bow tie, what made you choose this one?

We needed Max to be dressed appropriately for the occasion and Max loves a tartan look. We searched everywhere for a bowtie for him bearing in mind that he likes to dress like a proper country dog! His beds are tartan too, so as soon as we saw this bow tie for him we knew it was the one!

We think Max looked stunning! Thank you so much for sharing your day with us! We wish you many years of happiness together.
